The International Latino Gang Investigators Association (ILGIA) was formally established on January 1, 2002.  Since its inception, continued requests for more information relating to the topic of Latino gangs have come from law enforcement, corrections, and local communities and ILGIA has done its best to answer the call.  We are a specialized group with some of the best investigators in the entire world!  ILGIA is committed to providing valuable and current information, and establishing a network between the ILGIA membership, fellow associations, and criminal justice agencies.  Our association has a general public website and a member’s only secure website to provide up-to-date regional intelligence on related gang issues, state-of-the-art training, special feature articles, and in-depth gang briefs.  The association also aggressively seeks information about the international drug trade directly associated with Latino gangs.

The mission of the ILGIA is to effectively respond to the proliferation of gangs in our society, especially in the Chicano/Latino community.  ILGIA also aims to increase the awareness of gangs, to assist law enforcement, and related agencies in a cooperative effort to combat gang activity in all areas where it exists.  These groups not only operate in Mexico, causing death and destruction of communities there, but also in the United States and abroad.  ILGIA has some of the most accurate and updated information available on these groups, including safety and security concerns, as they directly effect law enforcement and corrections.  We get our information from our members and credible sources on current security threats and gang activity with the vast majority of sources being law enforcement and corrections officers who work the front lines daily.

ILGIA is not a political group, we are gang investigators, but feel we should share this information with policy makers who have a need to know and a need to be better educated on the Mexican Drug Cartels and associated gangs. In closing, ILGIA hopes to assist federal, state, local, and tribal governments deal better with related laws, policies, resources, and gang problems in the future. Our association's work is not meant to replace or duplicate services provided by any other group or agency but hopefully serves to compliment it and make for more effective results.
